Week 17 – Dallas @ Washington: Getting with the program

Steve Baker is sick of hearing the words “program” and “team culture” in post-game sport-speak (across a raft of codes). But when it comes to the impact of Rolando McClain on the Dallas Cowboys defense, there are no two words that sum up the difference between playing football in January or thinking about the draft and pre-season training between Christmas and New Years’.

About Steve Baker

Steve Baker cashed in his horses for choppers and went tear-assing around ‘Nam, looking for the shit. He’s been known to chopper in t-bones and beer and turn the L-Z into a beach party. Steve’s the defending ‘Most Pessimistic Dallas Fan’ champion and is in the midst of a life-long campaign to one day buy the Cowboys off Jerry Jones and end the madness. He’s also chief button-pusher for the Footy Almanac Podcast, so you can blame him.

Week 13: Washington @ Indianapolis: A tale of two quarterbacks

James Caughlin can’t help but think about Draft Day 2012, when Indianapolis selected Andrew Luck #1 and Washington went #2 and picked Robert Griffin III. Since then, the careers of these top two QB’s have gone in different directions.

About James Caughlin

Growing up in Brisbane Australia, James got into the NFL during the 2000 season thanks to the Madden NFL video game. His cousins told him to use the Patriots (as a prank on him) but 3 Super Bowls and multiple winning season’s later, he has had the last laugh. Now you will hear him yelling at the TV around 4am on a Monday morning watching every Patriots game live.

Week 12 – Washington @ San Francisco: Sleep school in more ways than one

Josh Slocum is at sleep school with his young family, but can’t help sneaking peeks at the 49ers/Redskins score. Luckily for him, the baby kept sleeping and the Niners woke up just in time.

About Josh Slocum

Born into the red and white of the South Melbourne Swans, I remember being amazed at age 7 to see a team with our colours that actually won something when the 1984 49ers won the Superbowl. I’ve been following the red, white and gold ever since. Of recent times my frustrations at not winning a Superbowl since 1994 can be heard occasionally on the aussieguysnfl podcast.

Week 11 – Tampa Bay @ Washington: Spread the Mike Evans love

Tampa Bay fan Declan Boffa is excited for a change, after his Bucs cruised past Washington, with rookie wide receiver Mike Evans continuing his stellar season and setting a couple of records.

Week 9 – Washington @ Minnesota: $4,000 and 80 days

Adrian Peterson’s court case appears to have been settled, and as Ed Wyatt writes, the star running back may rejoin the Minnesota Vikings sooner, rather than later.

About Ed Wyatt

Ed Wyatt grew up in Halfway, Maryland, following the Baltimore Colts like his football coach father. When he lost his Bert Jones #7 jersey at the Lincolnshire Elementary School playground, he should have taken it as an omen, since the Colts left Baltimore for Indianapolis. Ed has managed to avoid full time work by talking on the radio, smiling on the television and tapping on the keyboard of his computer. He won a number of local Emmy awards with the Seattle-based comedy show Almost Live! and hosted the Super Bowl live on Australian television for nine years. He is a graduate of Stanford University.

Week 4 – NY Giants @ Washington: Eli completes 70% as Giants romp

New York Giants fan Cody Royle takes on the Eli Manning haters after a big win over the Team That Shall Not Be Named.

About Cody Royle

A Melbourne-native, Cody packed up and moved to Toronto, Canada in 2009 largely to be closer to the NFL and his beloved New York Giants. He now coaches the Canadian Aussie Rules team and can be found tweeting @codyroyle.

Week 3 – Washington @ Philadelphia: Hillbillies and Croissants (the view from Cameroon)

Michael Viljoen’s amazing report on the Eagles victory over the Redskins from the jungles of Cameroon!
[As well written as it is improbable. An Almanac classic – Thanks Michael. Ed]

About Michael Viljoen

My work (Christian missions) has allowed me to visit and live in different countries and continents, but none near America. I think I hold the world record for having the most number of American friends without ever setting foot in America. Consequently I am obliged to know something about the NFL. I view the game itself as a curious combination of testosterone and chess. I like it.

Week 3 – Washington @ Philidelphia. New beginnings and missed opportunities.

Watching from his new home in Boston, Jordan Breust watches Kirk Cousins’ breakout game end in disappointment.

Week 3 – Washington @ Philadelphia: The Return

Scott Langford says that the return of former Eagle DeSean Jackson was the main storyline going into the game with Washington, but ultimately it would end up taking a back seat to another Philly victory.

About Scott Langford

Australia’s Most Famous SUNY Cortland/Syracuse Alum

Melbourne boy who belongs back in New York.

Eagles fan who for some reason once wore a Giants Super Bowl ring.

Current US collegiate athletic recruiter and advisor.

Week 2 – Jacksonville @ Washington: No RG3, but KC1 gets it done

Our man in London, Sir Damon, laments another loss by his Jaguars and says the stats from today’s game make for very difficult reading.

About Sir Damon

Sir Damon (may or may not be his real name) grew up in Los Angeles but has spent most of his life riding the Hammersmith & City line from Wood Lane to Baker Street. He was a fan of the old Scottish Claymores of NFL Europe and while highly skeptical that the Jacksonville Jaguars will become “London’s team,” he’s willing to give it a shot.
